Joe Higginbotham





Joe served in the US Army for 24 years as an Infantryman and Intelligence Analyst. His assignments include the 82nd Airborne Division, US Army Special Operations Command, National Ground Intelligence Center, Federal Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab, Southern European Task Force and US Army Special Warfare Center and School. Joe’s overseas operations and deployments include Panama, Afghanistan, Iraq, Africa, and Europe. Some awards include: Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Parachutist Badge, Meritorious Service Medal (3), Joint Meritorious Unit Citation, Army Commendation Medal w/ Oak Leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal w/ 2 Campaign Stars, Global War On Terrorism Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon (four), numerous foreign military qualifications including Canadian and Belgium jump wings; and more. Joe is also the recipient of the prestigious Thomas Knowlton Award.

Upon retiring, Joe was compelled to continue serving. Joe was serving as the Outdoor Activities Coordinator for ROVER, specializing on taking veterans and Gold Star family members on hunting expeditions such as whitetail, elk, turkey and predator hunts, at minimum to no cost. Recently, he was named Director of Regional Outreach Veterans Engagement Resources (ROVER), a veteran 501(c)3 nonprofit, by its founder, entrusting Joe to continue serving veterans and their families. ROVER’s mission is to serve as a hub for veterans and their families to connect to resources and access opportunities to improve their quality of life.
